Dances With Films wrap-up

Well, Dances With Films is over and with that we bring the film festival run of The Falls to a close. DWF was the last festival I submitted to and I have no plans to submit to any more. Now we just need to focus on finalizing our distribution deal and moving on to the next film, finally.

On Wednesday night, DWF wrapped up with a party at “Space” in Santa Monica and frankly I was disappointed that we really couldn’t network very easily because the DJ had the damn music way too loud. I guess the L.A. folks just wanted to party, while my team and I were there to work. But we stuck around for the awards, which as you can tell by the fact that I didn’t open this post with an award announcement, did not swing in our favor. As I expected. But what I have been hearing from everyone is that just to have your film play in L.A. is an award unto itself. Getting your first feature into an L.A. festival is tough to do from what I understand, so forget the awards. I got what I wanted out of this experience anyway.

So I’m back in Arizona now, and this will be the last post to this blog. I want to make sure I acknowledge and give my thanks to everyone who attended all the festivals… the experience was that much richer getting to share it with good friends and family. The times we have had because of this film we made together and the camaraderie that grew out of it – these are times I will never forget and for which I will be forever grateful. Thank you all for sharing my dream with me. Now… onward and upward!
