Another L.A. festival for Stabbing Stupidity!

“Stabbing Stupidity” has been selected to be part of the 11th annual L.A. Shorts Fest, September 5 – 16, 2007 – the largest short film festival in the world. This comes right in the wake of our Grand Jury Award – Short Film Honorable Mention at another L.A. film festival, Dances With Films. Needless to say, we are totally stoked that our little film we made for “On The Lot” has had success far beyond our initial expectations.

What’s more, L.A. Shorts Fest is an Academy-qualifying festival! To quote their official materials:

In past years, 25 participating films have earned Academy Award nominations, with 8 filmmakers actually taking home the Oscar.

More to come! As soon as the schedule is released, we will post our screening time and date.

Stupidity wins honorable mention at Dances With Films!

Variety broke the story on Friday:

Tom Tagholm’s “A Bout de Truffe” drew the short film kudos, with an honorable mention going to “Stabbing Stupidity,” directed by Paul DeNigris and written by Steve Briscoe.

This is the 2nd film festival honor for “Stabbing Stupidity,” coming on the heels of director Paul DeNigris’ win for “Arizona Filmmaker of the Year” at this year’s Phoenix Film Festival.

Dances With Films Update

“Stabbing Stupidity” screened today as part of “Competition Shorts 1″ at L.A.’s Dances With Films festival of the unknowns at the Laemmle Sunset 5 in West Hollywood. In attendance – director Paul DeNigris, writer-producer-actor Steve Briscoe, actors Lindsey Marlin and Laura Durant, director of photography Vincent Pascoe, and a number of the film’s crew.

Watching the slate of short films reminded us once again why being selected for Dances With Films is such a prestigious honor. This is a festival that has remained small by design. It only runs films on 1 screen, for a handful of days – so the number of slots they have to program films into remains limited. Therefore the films that have been selected in any given year have beat out dozens of other films – meaning they truly are the cream of the crop. So once again, it’s our honor to be part of this incredibly elite group and to have the opportunity to screen in Los Angeles. Thank you, Dances With Films!
