Cowboy Dreams – Official Selection, 2009 Phoenix Film Festival!

At last night’s screening for the IFP/Phoenix 24-Hour Film Challenge, the line-up for the Arizona Shorts Programs at the 2009 Phoenix Film Festival were announced… and among the films selected was none other than “Cowboy Dreams.”

Phoenix is our hometown film festival and has been very good to us over the years: The Falls played there in 2004, and  “Stabbing Stupidity” and “The Long Shot” in 2007 – the year Locked Horns’ Paul DeNigris picked up the Copper Wing Award as Arizona Filmmaker of the Year. So we are thrilled that “Cowboy Dreams” will be screening in the 2009 edition of the Southwest’s premiere film event!

The 2009 Phoenix Film Festival runs April 2nd through April 9th. Keep watching this space for screening dates and times, how to buy tickets, and announcements regarding celebrity cast appearances at the festival!

On the set of Cowboy Dreams – an actor’s perspective

Here’s a great post written by actor Bartley Overbey about his experiences on the set of our short film “Cowboy Dreams” last year. We’ve been wanting to post it for a while, but never could seem to find the right time. Well, better late than never!

Some people have asked me how the shoot for “Cowboy Dreams” went, So I thought I would write about my experiences on the set. Get some coffee, its gonna be a long one. The shoot was on May 10th 2008 near Seven Springs.

When I turned off the main street onto the dirt washboard road I got the feeling that I was going back in time..the Mix CD was playing the theme song to “dune”. It was 4:30 in the afternoon. The switchback road twisted and turned and after awhile I came upon one of the most beautiful sights I’ve ever seen. This ranch was breathtaking. It had big trees all over and a gentle creek running through it… A bass/Catfish pond, and everything was very Green.

What a place to shoot!

I got out of the car and started walking to the bunkhouse and the first apparition I saw was a man that was dressed in the garb of the 1850′s…
